BEYOND TI AMO BY TIMOTHY SCHAUMBURG
We continue to highlight emerging talents with this new series exploring our latest theme beyond the pages with photographer Timothy Schaumburg and stylist Ophélie Cozette.
The duo led by photographer Timothy Schaumburg and stylist Ophélie Cozette unveil a raw and sensitive escape in the countryside, brought to life through the words of writer Erhan Kobak.
"I Used to…
When I was young, my parents dressed me in colorful, vibrant clothes – I wore playful outfits. I hated it. I hated growing up in the countryside. But I loved watching my parents get ready for work in Paris: elegant suits, extravagant ties on my father; elegant suits, tight pencil skirts on my mother.
That’s what I wanted. I wanted to live in the big city. I wanted to leave behind those playful clothes and Fontainebleau as quickly as possible. Now I live in Paris and dress like my mother: monochrome, neat, conventional. Day in, day out. I hate it.
Whenever I can, I flee Paris – to break free, to breathe. And time and again, I find myself drawn back home.
Back to where I learned to be playful.
Back to where it’s allowed to be playful.
It took me a long time to realize what I wanted – what I really wanted. Sometimes you don’t see it, even when it’s right in front of your eyes. Especially when something bigger, something immense like Paris, looms on the horizon. Like a sun blinding your view.
I had to leave and gain some distance to realize that what I truly missed was what I had had since childhood. Now, I understand why my parents dressed me in those playful clothes." Erhan Kobak
