A Lady Made Bat

What in the world led her to this creepy
Gare de l’Est hotel room
Sitting all by herself
Isolated
Confined
Punished

Sleepy by day
Lively at night

She can’t help but reminiscing
When she was a new born, naked and blind,
Growing upside down

When she once traded both her wings with feet, like a trashy little mermaid would do,
To adapt this world, the right way up,
To prove them wrong and stop being so persecuted

About all the good nights she had,
Prepping fancy and all groomed up
Loling and sipping on natural wine at Rami’s,
Spreading and counting all her jewels

But she swallowed all the jewels
Now she's sweating them out, feverish
Some say all of this tragedy
Is due to her.

Now she’s crying cause of Karma

She's got issues
She's got tissues

Plus she's got symptoms too.

What a lady bat must do?

A whole guilt a whole shame

In hibernation will remain.

Make up artist Lisa Michalik and photographer Ryan Doubiago met on a previous shoot and wanted to work together again. They involved me early on and we set up a fire team to shoot on the 11th of November in the midst of the 2nd confinement.

A lot of hotels were closed, we found this cheap and old one in deserted Gare de l'Est, in Paris, in extremis.

This shoot simply came straight out of the current viral circumstances and creative frustration. We had to do it.

It was last minute, because Ryan had a flight for the United States the very next morning. He took all the films with him to develop them back in his hometown. But then, drama happened : the border control patrol in New York refused to check the films manually like they usually do in every airport on this planet. They cowardly forced him to place it under the x-ray machine.

A lot of the shots were damaged. What remains here is what's been rescued only.

Disheartened, I went in my files
I remembered I also brought my DV camera on set that day, and with the very few matter filmed by Ryan
I decided to edit it to illustrate the introspection I went through making this interlude-like song called « intuition » released on my album Sexy Planet out November the 13th 2020

I just thought it could match.

This video was not premeditated at all.

None of this was discussed.
None of this was this cursed.
