— just ahead of Laruicci's ready-to-wear debut, Sacrebleu! went fishing for information about the new collection available as of spring 2021. Cem Cinar (Creative Director of the clothing line) and Lauren Ruicci (Founder of the brand) each give their own perspective on this new turning point for the brand.

Describe the brand in three words (Cem Cinar, Creative Director of the clothing line).

Expressive, eclectic, upbeat.

How would you describe Laruicci for neophytes?

A stylized escape from the norm, a combination of wearability and experimentation, designs that seek to release the boldest side of you.

Why did you launch a clothing line? 

To underline how much we enjoy designing and creating, and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Laruicci jewelry, it seemed like the right time to launch a full clothing line, to dress our customers from head to toe!

 

What message (if any) are you trying to convey through this first ready-to-wear line? What is its identity?

The message is to transpose the sensations of nightlife into everyday life, to feel the bass beats of the music and the frantic pace of those nocturnal rampages in your waking hours. It’s also to encourage optimism and self-confidence when you are wearing the pieces, wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

Where do you see this line five years from now?

Being worn at any time and in any place - a globetrotting brand with a life of its own.

If a book or a movie were to represent this collection, which one would it be?

It could be Shakespeare’s Hamlet, with a fair share of romanticism, a few steamy scenes and a touch of freakiness.

A motto that drives you?

Live a little.

Laruicci jewelry is made for those who belong to the night.

Why did you launch a clothing line?

I launched clothing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my jewelry brand and worldwide sensation, Laruicci.

What message are you trying to convey through this first ready-to-wear line (if any)? What is its identity?

The message we are conveying with the spring-summer 2021 collection is that the fashion pyramid starts with the steamy atmosphere of a nightclub, with strobe lights flashing and base beats thumping – all the sounds and sensations of nightlife. The most interesting culture comes from international nightlife which is the main inspiration for the collection.

Where do you see this line in five years?

Our vision is to create Laruicci in collaboration with the world-famous Parisian Nightlife production team Underdogs, famous for hosting music festivals in New York and across Europe. Underdogs produced Secret Rave in January, that launched this spectacular project in Paris boasting a guestlist of 500+ guests. The installation will be a permanent atelier, to welcome back all our local nightlife friends, and a showroom hosted by Laruicci. It stages events, DJ sets, bands, music production, and has a bar named The Velvet Moon. A salon featuring our ready-to-wear clothing and jewelry will attract our affluent international clients to our studio. Imagine coming with your mom, your sister and your brother to shop Laruicci while soaking up the atmosphere created by the sounds of our universe.

If a book or a movie were to represent this collection, which one would it be?

Laruicci spring-summer 2021 drew its inspiration from Redemption song by Bob Marley.
