After opening for the likes of Troye Sivan and Charli XCX in recent years, Allie X wanted herGirl With No Facetour—her biggest yet as a headlining act—to be like nothing her fans had seen from her before.
“I didn’t want to overreach with the production, but instead try to keep the raw essence of my new record,” the Canadian popstar, born Alexandra Hughes, tellsVogue.Performing with a more stripped-down band (just a guitarist and a bassist; no drummer), Hughes wanted her tour fashion to be the main spectacle. Not a fan of the “sparkly bras and panties” she’s seen her fair share of musicians take the stage in, she worked with stylist Stella Evans to curate a more considered batch of custom and loaned looks.
“It’s difficult to find a layered outfit that works for the stage because you need to be able to move without restriction,” notes Hughes, who pulled pieces from the likes of Meg Beck and Sarah Aphrodite for her tour. “Everything I wore was in black and white with lots of lace and ’80s romance.”
To commemorate the end of theGirl With No Facetour, Allie X shared some exclusive snaps withVoguefrom her time on the road.
